July 8, 2011 BASEBALL American Legion New Milford Post 31

New Milford Post 31 -- New Milford posted a 3-2 record during a busy three-day stretch last week, dropping two of three to Danbury before winning two straight against Norwalk.

In a 4-3 win over Danbury on June 30, Greg Ostner pitched a complete game and struck out eight while walking none and allowing just three hits. Justin Voytek went 3-for-4 with an RBI and Clete LoRusso went 2-for-3 with an RBI.

In a 6-5 loss to Danbury, Brad Mannion went 2-for-3 with two runs, Dan Hedden went 2-for-4 and Joey Charles had a hit and two RBIs. Danbury pitcher Bryson Herr went the distance and scattered eight hits and one walk. Only one of the runs he allowed was earned. Ryan Berry went 2-for-3 with three runs for Danbury and Brian DelDebbio and Janco Cornelius each drove in a run.

In a 2-1 loss to Danbury, New Milford managed just one hit off Danbury pitcher Donald Miller, who went the distance and struck out 11 while walking three. Miller and Robert Meerman each drove in a run for Danbury.
