April 13, 2011 -- Baseball Wins Second in a Row

Baseball (2-0, 1-0):
Bobcats starting pitcher Harlan Zeerip was back on the hill for Brookfield on Monday and he led the team to its second straight win to start the year. Zeerip pitched six scoreless innings, enjoying solid run support in the 6-3 win at New Fairfield. He struck out six while walking only two.
The Bobcats scored two runs in the second inning and one in the fourth before opening things up with a three-run fifth inning. The Rebels rallied for three runs in their last at-bat but it was too little too late as Brookfield held on for the win.
Sophomore third basemen Matt Gernert continued his strong start to the season with a double and two RBIs while senior right-fielder David Long went 3-for-3 with one RBI. Senior Ryan Berry, who came on to pitch in the seventh inning, also had a triple and an RBI in the win.
