July 8, 2010 -- American Legion Danbury 2, Oxford 1

Pitcher Bryson Herr scattered five hits in the complete-game victory at Danbury High School on Wednesday. Herr needed only 96 pitches to complete the win while striking out four. Dennis Sharp's two-out double in the second inning plated Dan Lemire for Danbury's first run. Austin Samuelson's fourth triple of the season, followed by Sam Gillotti's grounder to third, accounted for the winning run. Oxford scored a run in the seventh on a groundout after Vinny DeFrancisco's leadoff triple. Nick Rolen erased a leadoff single by Oxford in the first by throwing out the runner on an attempted steal. Herr escaped a two-on, nobody-out threat in the fourth by picking the lead runner off second base and striking out the next batter. The Danbury defense negated a leadoff single in the fifth when Sharp snared a liner at second and doubled the runner off first. Danbury next plays a doubleheader against Monroe on Saturday.
