July 15, 2007 -- Titans' streak snapped

Two days after out-slugging the Southern Dutchess Lightning 8-1 to extend their recent winning streak to eight straight and lock up a spot in their upcoming summer league playoffs (USSA/ECTB), the Connecticut Titans U13 Blue Squad lost three consecutive heartbreakers to two of their league rivals, the Brewster Bulldogs and the Rockland Red Devils.

The Titans lost the first game against the Brewster Bulldogs 12-9 after rallying for six runs in the final inning. P.J. Jamieson sparked the rally by scoring on a Steven Zielinski RBI single. Nick Ferrari followed with another RBI single. Later in the inning, Chris Haylon hit a three-run double to bring the Titans to within 3, but that was as close as they got.

In the following doubleheader, the Titans lost two more to the Rockland Red Devils 6-4 and 6-4.

In the first game, Bryson Herr pitched a gem for the Titans, striking out 10 and walking none over six innings.

In the second game, the Titans forged a late-game rally that fell just short. Connor Trafton, B.J. Nimer and C.J. Sousa all had key hits in the rally and Zach Khoury laid down a beautiful sacrifice bunt.

The Titans next play in the USSSA-sanctioned New York Wood Bat Tournament in Newburgh, N.Y., beginning July 20.
